All Eyes on the 2019 Symposium!

Why A Symposium?

The 2019 Symposium was a colourful event that allowed employees from our various offices to meet, share and celebrate Leger’s successes, all while developing new solutions to achieve our organizational objectives.

For the occasion, a host of activities were organized from May 29 to May 31, 2019 at Mont Tremblant’s Pedestrian Village, including a photo rally, conferences given by our company experts and from various fields, games and more!

The Choice of the “Happy Camper” Theme

The Symposium was held under the “Happy Camper” theme, with reference to the company’s mandate to be a pioneer in workplace happiness, particularly with the acquisition of the Leger Happiness Index at Work (LHI-W) in 2018. Offering employees three days of training, fun and meetings was meant to strengthen and create relationships between colleagues. In addition, since the location was far from all our offices, the employees went camping for three days… in a 5-star hotel! A unique experience and all this in Tremblant’s enchanting setting. See our logo above, specially created for the event.

Key Moments

Here are a few key moments that our employees particularly appreciated:

Mike Ross: Can Artificial Intelligence Make You Happy?
  • Having worn several hats throughout his career, including that of international finance lawyer, Mike Ross founded Juniper, a consulting firm based in Montréal and specializing in innovation, strategy, organizational change and leadership. His conference on artificial intelligence, ranging from the definition of AI to what it will represent to us in the future, allowed our employees to observe trends in and the importance of the AI industry. An excellent speaker, everyone was particularly impressed by Mr. Ross’s presentation!
Jacques Nantel: Retail Best Practices
  • Professor Emeritus at HEC Montréal, media columnist, speaker and marketing expert, Mr. Nantel came to speak to us about the new reality that retailers are facing in order to reach their clientele, and how factors such as e-commerce are of vital importance now. It was interesting to see the big players from 10 years ago versus today’s, and how they have evolved. Another conference that employees greatly appreciated.
The Not-To-Be-Missed Pollster Game
  • The pollster game, led by Research Vice-President Christian Bourque, has become a Symposium tradition, and always brings out our employees’ competitive spirit, above all, it is a remarkable success every time. Congratulations to the winning team that took the trophy this year!
Dinner and An Awards Ceremony
  • According to Pierre Côté, founder of the Leger Happiness Index (LHI), recognition is one of the 6 most influential factors in workplace happiness. At Leger, we feel it’s important to highlight the work of our employees. For this reason, we held an awards ceremony during dinner at the Casino. Winners were selected by none other than their colleagues! Here they are:

Our partner in promoting happiness ‒ Happy Culture ‒ was on site at the event to demystify what makes Leger employees happy and to learn more about their vision of happiness at work. Here is a short, funny video taken during the event – to be taken lightly, of course!

One thing is for sure, the 2019 Symposium was a success on every front. It was a wonderful occasion to communicate and strengthen corporate values among employees. This is another step towards achieving our future objectives together!
