How Social Connection and Preventative Healthcare Contribute to the Boom of Health and Wellness in 2025

April 8, 2025

It is undeniable that health and well-being are no longer about quick fixes or short-term solutions. These days, consumers opt for a much more balanced and sustainable approach, one that prioritizes weight management, social connections in fitness. In this blog, we will explore the power of connection during fitness sessions. Whether it’s the encouragement of a workout partner, the accountability of a fitness club, or the motivation from friends and family, social support plays an important role in staying committed and active.

Consumers are starting to recognize the value of addressing potential health concerns early on, ensuring long-term well-being and reducing the risk of chronic conditions.

To gain deeper insights into these shifting perspectives, we surveyed our proprietary U.S. Health and Wellness community, a dedicated online research panel composed of engaged consumers who regularly share their opinions on health-related topics to further explore their motivations, resources, and goals for 2025. Stronger Together: The Power of Social Connection in Fitness

In 2025, social connection is flexing some serious muscle in the health and wellness space. According to our latest findings, 59% of consumers say that a sense of community is essential to their fitness journey.  Whether it’s cheering each other on among friends and family, syncing schedules with a workout buddy, or participating in a fitness community club, the emotional boost from social connection during workouts can be just as powerful as a protein shake.

In short, support networks help people not only break a sweat but also stay committed. In fact, according to our Health and Wellness Toolkit, encouragement from peers is the #1 contributor to helping people achieve their health goals this year, with 68% of respondents, specifically those who consider community and social support important to their fitness journey, naming it as their main motivator. It’s a strong reminder that wellness isn’t a solo mission: it’s a team sport.

Prevention is Power: Investing in Proactive Healthcare for a Healthier Future

Preventative healthcare is gaining momentum. In fact, 91% of consumers recognize the importance of preventative healthcare, and 86% believe it can help reduce their long-term healthcare costs.

By focusing on early detection and proactive care, individuals can take charge of their well-being and avoid more serious health concerns down the line.

One critical example is the rising rates of colorectal cancer among younger generations. Once considered a disease primarily affecting older adults, colorectal cancer is now being diagnosed at higher rates in people under 50. According to Yale Medicine, experts are urging younger individuals to consider early screenings, such as colonoscopies, as a preventative measure.

So, what do consumers prioritize when it comes to their preventative healthcare plans? Among the available options, nearly 6 in 10 consumers (59%) plan to undergo blood pressure screenings this year, while 54% are considering cholesterol screenings.

Another notable finding: while only 25% of respondents plan to schedule mental health check-ins, 44% of women express concern about their mental health—underscoring the growing importance of mental health support in preventative care.

These choices reflect a growing awareness of the value of monitoring key health indicators early on, highlighting a shift toward proactive, informed care that can lead to better long-term outcomes.
