North of the border, Canadians feel slightly more empowered: 86% believe their personal actions can make a difference. This puts Canada in the top third of countries globally, and slightly ahead of the U.S. in individual climate engagement\u200b.<\/p>\n<p>Compared globally, both countries trail nations like Vietnam (99%), India (95%), and Mexico (94%)\u2014where belief in personal impact is near-universal\u200b.<\/p>\n<h2>Government Action\u2014Americans Are Skeptical<\/h2>\n<p>Only 38% of Americans agree that their government is taking the necessary actions to protect the environment\u2014well below the global average of 52%\u200b. With 62% of Americans disagreeing, the U.S. ranks among some of the more skeptical countries surveyed.<\/p>\n<p>Canadians show slightly more confidence than Americans: 50% believe their government is acting appropriately, while 46% disagree\u200b. Still, both countries lag behind Asian countries like Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia where their governments receive the most praise.<\/p>\n<h2>Corporate Sustainability\u2014Americans Are Doubtful<\/h2>\n<p>Just 16% of Americans believe most companies are seriously operating with sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) in mind\u2014slightly below the global average of 22%. 39% of Americans say CSR efforts are mostly for show, and 26% believe companies don\u2019t care at all and focus purely on profit.<\/p>\n<p>By contrast, countries like China (61%), India (49%), and Vietnam (47%) report significantly higher levels of trust in corporate environmental efforts and believe corporations are acting seriously \u2014once again, suggesting a substantial perception gap between American and Asian countries\u200b.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As concern about climate change continues to rise, Americans show strong support for personal action.
