Economic Confidence: Manitoba 2025

June 26, 2025

Leger regularly conducts an economic confidence survey that measures Canadians’ current and future confidence in the Canadian economy and household finances. This report specifically explores Canadians in Manitoba’s perspectives on economic topics.

Perceptions of the economic state in Canada are an important driver of how consumers will spend (or not spend) in the coming months. Download our overall economic confidence report and access key findings on Manitobans.

Manitoba

Highlights of this economic confidence survey include:

  • While changes are small, current views are slightly more optimistic, even if the future outlook has not yet improved. As such, pessimism and worry remain dominant themes, with limited sense of imminent change or recovery.
  • A major issue for Manitobans and Canadians in general, US tariffs are reportedly impacting behaviours already and are likely to continue the rest of this year at least. So far, tariffs have made Manitobans more careful with their spending and delay major purchases.
  • Confidence in household finances is higher than other provinces and shows a significant increase (63% in June 2025 vs 55% in January 2025).
  • However, confidence in the future of the Canadian economy remains the same, rather pessimistic (40%).

Methodology

Results are based on online research conducted among a sample of Manitobans (18 years of age and older). The most recent wave was conducted among a sample of 400 Manitobans, with fieldwork from June 13 to 16, 2025. The data was statistically weighted according to Canadian Census figures. A margin of error cannot be associated with a non-probability sample in a panel survey, but for comparison purposes, a probability sample of 400 would have a margin of error of ±4.9%, 19 times out of 20.
