YOUR ROLE AS A LEGAL ASSISTANT

  • Contribute to managing Leger’s business
  • Represent general management when Leger offices are formalizing their relationships with clients
  • Ensure that corporate standards are upheld, while making profitability-oriented decisions
  • Work in close collaboration with all members of the general management team, as well as the heads of all research teams
  • Communicate effectively with the different internal teams

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring updates on policies, procedures and administrative guidelines according to the Master Quality Inventory
  • Playing an active role in the continuous improvement of the company’s procedures and implementing appropriate training programs
  • Reviewing and updating legal corporate template documents, such as:
    • Terms and Conditions of Leger’s contractual agreements
    • Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation, Bill C-28
    • Leger and its affiliates’ privacy policies
  • Supporting general management in various general, corporate and commercial matters, such as transactions, services, real estate and litigation
  • Reviewing partnership agreements involving Leger and/or its affiliates and submitting recommendations to a member of general management
  • Monitoring new standards and laws that have an impact on the organization’s activities
  • Acting as a liaison between the research teams and the IT team to provide information on Leger’s cyber security, data security and privacy policies
  • Responding to research teams regarding client requests with respect to corporate details, including but not limited to governance, insurance, banking, etc.
  • Reviewing our clients’ MSAs, NDAs and other overarching legal documentation including providing feedback, as required

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

Requirements

  • At least two (2) years of experience as a legal assistant
  • A legal assistant certificate or paralegal certificate
  • Thorough knowledge of corporate law procedures
  • Superior knowledge of business French and business English
  • Experience with responding to enquiries, or explaining contract terminology, legal entity status and contract processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of the market research industry and standards is an asset
  • Knowledge of provincial legal frameworks and/or the American legal framework is an asset
