2020 WIN World Survey on Technology and Sharing Personal Information

Each year, the Worldwide Independent Network of Market Research (WIN International), which Leger is a founding member of, conducts the WIN World Survey, which explores perspectives on technology.

From October 21 to December 15, 2020, over 26,000 people from 34 countries responded to the survey. Leger was responsible for data collection in Canada.

Some of the key highlights include…

  • 45% of respondents are concerned about sharing their personal information digitally.
  • 27% agree they are aware of what happens with their personal information after they share it with a data collector.
  • 25% agree they are fine with the privacy processes of most data collectors (e.g. service providers, advertisers, retailers, insurers, municipalities) asking for their personal information.
  • 22% agree that sharing personal information is necessary nowadays, consistent compared to last year.
