In mid-July 2023, the SAG-AFTRA strike began due to an ongoing labor dispute. One of the issues at the center of the dispute is AI, and how it will impact actors and writers and by extension, their livelihoods.

From July 28 to 30, 2023, we surveyed U.S. consumers to understand their perspectives on the strike and its related issues.

SOME OF THE KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR SURVEY ON THE SAG-AFTRA STRIKE INCLUDE…

SAG-AFTRA STRIKE AWARENESS AND OPINIONS

  • 72% of U.S. consumers are aware of the SAG-AFTRA strike. 60% say they are aware (very or somewhat) of the issues involved.
  • 38% of are more sympathetic to the actors and writers, 7% are more sympathetic to the producers, studios, and distributors, and 29% are equally sympathetic to both. 25% are not sure which side they sympathize with most.
