May 31, 2023

This portion of the 2022 edition of the WIN World Survey (WWS) explored perspectives on technology. The WWS is conducted annually by the Worldwide Independent Network of Market Research (WIN International), of which Leger is a founding member. Some of the topics the technology survey covers include perspectives on of the privacy of digital information, the usefulness of new technologies in everyday life and the negative effects of social networks.

KEY HIGHLIGHTS: TECHNOLOGY SURVEY [2022 WIN WORLD SURVEY]

The privacy of digital information: 45% of respondents are concerned about sharing their personal information digitally (including 43% of Canadians and 51% of Americans).

The usefulness of new technologies in everyday life: 45% of respondents say new technologies allow them to better organize their lives (including 35% of Canadians and 46% of Americans).

The negative effects of social networks: 49% of respondents believe that social networks overwhelm their lives (including 52% of Canadians and 50% of Americans).

As noted by Vilma Scarpino, President, WIN International, “The results of this year’s WIN World Survey highlight the complex relationship between technology and our everyday lives. While some respondents express concerns about the overwhelming impact of social media, others see technology as a useful tool for getting organised. The survey also reveals shifting attitudes towards data privacy, with more individuals feeling informed about the fate of their personal information. As we continue to navigate the rapidly evolving digital landscape, it’s important to remain mindful of its potential impacts on our lives.
