COVID-19 and Vaccination – October 2, 2021

THIS SURVEY EXPLORES CANADIANS’ AND AMERICANS PERSPECTIVES ON COVID-19 AND VACCINATION.

In this edition, we asked Canadians and Americans with children aged 5-11 whether any cases of COVID-19 have been reported at their child(ren)’s schools. We also asked Canadians and Americans about their support for vaccine passports and their perspectives on COVID-19 in general.

This survey is conducted in collaboration with the Association for Canadian Studies (ACS) and published in the Canadian Press. This series of surveys is available on Leger’s website.

METHODOLOGY

This web survey was conducted from September 24 to September 26, 2021 with 1,537 Canadians and 1,001 Americans, 18 years of age or older, randomly recruited from LEO’s online panel.

For comparison, a probability sample of 1,537 respondents would have a margin of error of ±2.5%, 19 times out of 20, while a probability sample of 1,001 would have a margin of error of ±3.097%, 19 times out of 20.

  • Have there been any reported cases of COVID-19 in your child(ren)’s elementary school?
  • Certain provincial governments have announced the implementation of a vaccine passport. This proof of vaccination will be required to visit certain public places deemed “non-essential” such as bars, restaurants, gyms, concert halls or festivals and where many people are present. Do you or would you support or oppose the introduction of a vaccine passport in your province?
  • To this day, are you satisfied or not with the measures put in place to fight the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic by the following?
  • What statement best describes your personal opinion of the COVID-19 crisis for Canada/the United States?
