April 5, 2024

Every few months, Leger, in partnership with Global Public Affairs, conducts a study on the performance of the Alberta government. This time, the study was conducted between March 22 and 24, 2024.

Highlights from our Alberta Government Report Card include…

  • Healthcare remains the most important issue for Albertans, with 37% of Albertans that said it was in their top two issues. The other important issues to Albertans were inflation/rising interest rates (35%), housing prices/affordability (26%), and the economy (21%).
  • The Alberta NDP have the highest approval rating amongst party leaders, while Danielle Smith of the United Conservative Party is in a close second place with 41% approval.
  • 40% of Albertans approve of the provincial government’s handling of the energy sector/pipelines, and 37% of Albertans approve of the provincial government’s handling of the environment and climate change.

Methodology

This web survey was conducted from March 22 to 24, 2024, with 1,002 Albertans aged 18 or older, randomly recruited from LEO’s online panel. A margin of error cannot be associated with a non-probability sample in a panel survey. For comparison, a probability sample of 1,002 respondents would have a margin of error of ±3.1 %, 19 times out of 20.
