In collaboration with The Atlantic, Leger regularly surveys Americans about a variety of topical issues and current events. From December 23-26, 2021, we explored their perspectives about allowing non-citizens to vote in local elections.

This survey asked Americans if:

  • they support or oppose the idea of allowing legal permanent U.S. residents to vote in local elections
  • their perspectives on when, if ever, non-citizens should be allowed to vote in American elections
  • how they would feel about supporting a candidate who supported allowing non-citizens to vote in elections
  • and more

SURVEY METHODOLOGY

This web survey was conducted from December 23 to 26, 2021 among 1,005 Americans, 18 years of age or older, randomly recruited from Leger’s online panel, LEO.

For comparison, a probability sample of this size would have a margin of error of ±3.09%, 19 times out of 20.
