From September 10 to 11, 2024, we surveyed U.S. residents on the presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump that took place on September 10.

Highlights of our study include…

  • 63% of U.S. residents watched at least some part of the debate, with 38% watching it all.
  • 50% of U.S. residents believe that Kamala Harris won the debate, while 29% believe Donald Trump won the debate, and 13% believe that no one won the debate.
  • Among those that watched the debate, 60% said that it was a good debate, and 29% said it was bad.
  • If the 2024 presidential election were held today, 50% of U.S. residents would vote for Kamala Harris, 47% would vote for Donald Trump, and 3% would vote for someone else.

Methodology

This web survey  was conducted from September 10 to September 11, 2024, with 1,296 U.S. residents, aged 18 or older. A margin of error cannot be associated with a non-probability sample in a panel survey.

For comparison purposes, a probability sample of this size yields a margin of error no greater than ±2.72%, (19 times out of 20) for the American sample.
