THIS SURVEY EXPLORES CANADIANS’ PERSPECTIVES ON MANDATORY VACCINATION AND CANADIANS’ AND AMERICANS’ PERSPECTIVES ON VACCINE PASSPORTS AND COVID-19.

The Quebec government recently announced that health care and social service workers who are not fully vaccinated by October 15 will be suspended without pay.

In this edition, we asked Canadians whether they support mandatory COVID-19 vaccination for health care and social service workers in their province. We also asked Canadians and Americans about their perspectives on vaccine passports and COVID-19 in general.

This survey is conducted in collaboration with the Association for Canadian Studies (ACS) and published in the Canadian Press. This series of surveys is available on Leger’s website.

  • 76% of Quebecers support the mandatory vaccination of health care and social service workers in Quebec.
  • 75% of Canadians who live outside Quebec would support the mandatory vaccination of health care and social service workers in their province.
  • Overall, there is sustained support for vaccine passports in Canada.

METHODOLOGY

This web survey was conducted from September 10 to September 12, 2021 with 1,549 Canadians and 1,002 Americans, 18 years of age or older, randomly recruited from LEO’s online panel.

For comparison, a probability sample of 1,549 respondents would have a margin of error of ±2.49%, 19 times out of 20, while a probability sample of 1,002 would have a margin of error of ±3.096%, 19 times out of 20.
