  • The majority of Canadians and Americans are worried about the outcome of the U.S. presidential election.
  • Over seven-in-ten Canadians and Americans are concerned about:

    • Not having a clear winner on election day and the chaos that may follow if several days are needed to declare a winner
    • Increased racial tensions leading to protests and violence
  • 80% of Canadians think a Biden victory is the best outcome for Canada as a whole in this election.

SURVEY METHODOLOGY

This web survey was conducted from October 29 – November 1, 2020, with 1,516 Canadians and 1,001 Americans, 18 years of age or older, randomly recruited from LEO’s online panel.

For comparison, a probability sample of 1,516 respondents would have a margin of error of ±2.52%, 19 times out of 20, while a probability sample of 1,001 would have a margin of error of ±3.1%, 19 times out of 20.
