From September 2 to 5, 2022, on behalf of The Montreal Gazette, Leger surveyed residents in Montreal and Laval about their voting intentions for the next Quebec provincial election on October 3, 2022.
SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR SURVEY ON PROVINCIAL POLITICS AND VOTING INTENTIONS IN MONTREAL AND LAVAL INCLUDE…
- If a provincial election were held today, 28% of decided voters who live in Montreal or Laval would vote for Dominique Anglade’s Québec Liberal Party, 24% would vote for François Legault’s Coalition Avenir Québec, 19% would vote for Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois’ Québec Solidaire Party and 13% would vote for Éric Duhaime’s Conservative Party of Québec.
- 30% of Montreal and Laval residents think François Legault would make the best premier of Quebec, followed by Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois (14%) and Dominique Anglade (13%).
- According to Montreal and Laval residents, the campaign issues that will have the most impact on who they vote for are inflation/cost of living (24%), healthcare (23%) and language/Bill 96 (18%).
- 24% of Montreal and Laval residents think Dominique Anglade would be the strongest advocate for Anglophones at the National Assembly, followed by Balarama Holness (12%).
SURVEY METHODOLOGY
- A web survey was conducted among 600 respondents 18 years of age or older who are eligible to vote in Quebec’s election and live on the Island of Montreal or Laval.
- The data was collected from September 2 to 5, 2022.
- No margin of error can be associated with a non-probability sample (web panel in this case). However, for comparative purposes, a probability sample of 600 respondents would have a margin of error of ±4%, 19 times out of 20.
- The results were weighted according to gender, age, mother tongue, borough or city, education and presence of children in the householdin order to ensure a representative sample of the Montreal and Laval population.
