From February 14 to 17, 2025, we surveyed Ontarians on their provincial politics.
Highlights of our survey include…
- Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservative Party (48%) is leading by 20 points, ahead of Bonnie Crombie’s Ontario Liberal Party (28%), Marit Stiles’ Ontario NDP (16%), and Mike Schreiner’s Green Party (5%).
- Ontarians’ impression of Doug Ford has improved by 18% since the start of the election. He leads in improvement ahead of Bonnie Crombie (16%), who had a three-point increase this week.
- Doug Ford is seen as the best party leader for managing most the issues in Ontario. He is notably perceived as the best leader to defend Ontario’s interests from aggressive U.S. trade and economic sanctions (45%), to expand Ontario’s street and highway infrastructure to reduce gridlock (41%), and to grow Ontario’s economy (37%).
- One-third of Ontarians (33%) are satisfied with Premier Doug Ford and the PC government and would vote for them again. This proportion is five points higher than last week (28%). Meanwhile, less than one in five (16%) are dissatisfied with Ford and the PCs but still see them as the best option, while another 36% are dissatisfied with the current government and think it’s time for the NDP or Liberals to have a chance to govern the province. Overall, 49% are prepared to re-elect the Ford government.
- Inflation and the rising cost of living (22%) are the top concerns for Ontarians, followed by U.S. relations, trade sanctions, and tariffs (11%), which have increased by three points since last week.
Methodology
This web survey was conducted from February 14 to February 17, 2025, with 1,002 Ontarians aged 18 or older, randomly recruited from LEO’s online panel. A margin of error cannot be associated with a non-probability sample in a panel survey.
For comparison purposes, a probability sample of this size yields a margin of error no greater than ±3.09%, (19 times out of 20) for the Canadian sample.
