The Conservative leadership race is well underway, and on September 10, 2022, the new leader of the Conservative Party of Canada will be announced.
In our latest North American Tracker, we asked Conservative voters who they feel is the best leader for the CPC. We also explored Canadians’ voting intentions.
This survey is conducted in collaboration with the Association for Canadian Studies (ACS) and published in the Canadian Press. This series of surveys is available on Leger’s website.

THE CONSERVATIVE LEADERSHIP RACE AND FEDERAL BALLOT
- Pierre Poilievre continues to be the favourite, with 44% of Conservative voters indicating he would make the best CPC leader (nearly unchanged from 43% in our April 11 survey).
- If a federal election were held today, 32% of Canadians would vote Conservative, 30% would vote Liberal, and 21% would vote for the NDP.
METHODOLOGY
This web survey was conducted from June 10-12, 2022, with 1,528 Canadians, 18 years of age or older, randomly recruited from LEO’s online panel.
A margin of error cannot be associated with a non-probability sample in a panel survey. For comparison, a probability sample of 1,528 respondents would have a margin of error of ±2.5%, 19 times out of 20.
