From March 25-28, 2022, Leger surveyed eligible Ontario voters about provincial politics in Ontario to understand their voting intentions, impressions of the provincial party leaders and their perspectives on election issues.
SOME OF THE KEY HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR SURVEY OF ELIGIBLE ONTARIO VOTERS INCLUDE…
- When asked to rank the top 5 issues they feel are most important for party leaders to focus on and address during the upcoming Ontario election:
- 23% said they feel inflation/the rising cost of living is the most important
- 15% said they feel housing affordability is the most important
- 10% said they feel economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic is the most important
- 55% said the federal Liberal-NDP agreement in Ottawa will not influence how they vote in the Ontario provincial election. 28% said the agreement makes them more likely to vote for Doug Ford and the Ontario PCs, and 17% said it makes them less likely to vote for Doug Ford and the Ontario PCs. 21% do not know how the agreement will influence their vote in June’s Ontario provincial election.
- If a provincial election were held today, 39% of decided voters would vote for the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, 25% would vote for the Ontario Liberal Party and 24% would vote for the Ontario New Democratic Party.
SURVEY METHODOLOGY
A web survey was conducted among 1,001 Ontario residents, 18 years of age or older, who are eligible to vote in Ontario, randomly recruited from LEO’s online panel.
The data was collected from March 25 to 28, 2022.
For comparison purposes, a probability sample of 1,001 respondents would have a margin of error of ±3.1%, 19 times out of 20.
The results were weighted according to gender and age within Ontario regions, as well as by education and presence of children in the household in order to ensure a representative sample of the population.
