B.C. Politics: NDP Holds Narrow Lead as Housing, Health Care, and Deficit Concerns Keep Pressure on Government, Leger Poll

10 April 2026

Leger’s April 2026 Government of British Columbia Report Card shows B.C. politics remaining highly competitive. Among decided voters, the BC NDP leads with 44%, compared with 40% for the Conservative Party of British Columbia. The Greens stand at 10%, while OneBC has fallen to 3%.

The NDP is still ahead, but under pressure. A majority of British Columbians (54%) say the province is on the wrong track, while only 37% say it is headed in the right direction. David Eby remains the best known leader and leads on approval at 43%, but his disapproval has risen to 44%, and his six month net opinion score has fallen sharply.

Housing affordability and health care continue to dominate the public agenda, ranking as the province’s top two issues at 30% and 29% respectively. Economic concerns, including the economy, inflation, and taxes, form the next tier. The report also shows growing voter unease around government spending, with 46% saying the province is spending too much and running too large a deficit.

Methodology

This online survey was conducted among 1,003 BC residents aged 18 or older from April 3 to April 6, 2026, using Leger’s LEO online panel. Results were weighted by age, gender, region, and education to reflect the population of British Columbia.

A margin of error cannot be associated with a non-probability sample in a panel survey. For comparison, a probability sample of this size would have a margin of error of ±3.1%, 19 times out of 20.
