Decision 2020: Provincial Politics in British Columbia – October 13, 2020

October 13, 2020

From October 6-9, 2020, Leger conducted a survey among British Columbians to explore their provincial voting intentions.

KEY FINDINGS

  • If the provincial election were held today, the B.C. NDP would capture the highest proportion of the popular vote among decided voters (50%) followed by the B.C. Liberal Party (35%).
  • Almost half of respondents (47%) plan to watch the leaders’ debate on October 13.
  • Voters would be far more comfortable having a conversation with John Horgan than either of the other two leaders.

SURVEY METHODOLOGY

Combination of web survey using computer-assisted web interviewing (CAWI) technology and random digit dialing using computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) technology.

Conducted from October 6-9, 2020, among 1,100 residents of British Columbia, 18 years of age or older, who have the right to vote in British Columbia, randomly recruited from LEO’s online panel or telephone interviewing.

Using data from the 2016 Census, the results were weighted according to region, age, and gender in order to ensure a representative sample of the population of British Columbia.

For comparison purposes, a probability sample of 1,100 respondents would have a margin of error of ±3.0%, 19 times out of 20.
